Observation:

  • Two patients with thoracic conditions requiring surgery received endovascular therapy.
  • One patient had recurrent chest infection due to systemic blood supply to intralobar sequestration.
  • The other patient had an internal mammary vein avulsion injury.

Findings:

  • Coil embolization was successfully used in both cases to address vascular abnormalities.
  • Both patients proceeded to uncomplicated thoracic surgery post-embolization.

Implications:

  • Endovascular intervention is a viable option for managing active thoracic bleeding.
  • This technique can reduce operative hemorrhage risk in select thoracic surgical candidates.
