[Radiotherapy of bronchus carcinoma]
Abstract:
In spite of the yet unsatisfactory results of curative therapy of lung cancer, surgeons, internists, oncologists and radio-oncologists are challenged to coordinate therapeutic efforts. The contribution of radio-oncology to this collaborative approach is reviewed in the context of tumor type and spread as well as the patients general condition and symptoms. The different fractionation-schemes used for hyperfractionated, accelerated and concomitant treatment-plans are dealt with in depth. Involved radiation therapy in lung cancer is tedious, technically demanding and requires educated consideration of arguments.
