Background:

Antipsychotic combination therapy is a recognized clinical strategy.
Risperidone monotherapy may not be effective for all schizophrenia patients.

Purpose of the Study:

To assess the efficacy and safety of adding amisulpride to risperidone treatment.
To evaluate treatment outcomes in patients with partial response to risperidone.

Main Methods:

A 3-month open-label observational study.
Inclusion criteria: BPRS score ≥ 25 after risperidone monotherapy.
Outcome measures: BPRS, CGI-S, and UKU Side Effect Rating Scale.

Main Results:

Significant improvement in mental status observed over 3 months (BPRS, CGI, UKU).
Response rates: 45% for oral risperidone group and 28% for parenteral risperidone group.
Coadjuvant amisulpride demonstrated statistically significant benefits.

Conclusions:

Amisulpride addition may enhance schizophrenia symptom control in partial risperidone responders.
Further investigation into alternative therapies for poor responders is warranted.
