Human pDCs preferentially sense enveloped hepatitis A virions
Hepatitis A virus (HAV) uses its membrane coat to evade antibodies but triggers an early, limited immune response. Plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) detect enveloped HAV (eHAV) via TLR7 signaling, producing interferon-alpha.
