Do lamin B1 and lamin B2 have redundant functions?

B-type lamins, lamin B1 and lamin B2, are essential for brain development. Reciprocal knock-in mice show that neither lamin B1 nor lamin B2 can compensate for the loss of the other, revealing unique functions in neuronal migration.
