Background:

Determining the prevalence of gender identity disorder is challenging.
Existing data likely underestimate the true incidence of gender affirmation procedures.
Limited research exists on patient satisfaction following male-to-female gender reassignment surgery.

Purpose of the Study:

To assess subjective patient satisfaction after male-to-female gender reassignment surgery.
To evaluate postoperative outcomes and life fulfillment in individuals undergoing this procedure.

Main Methods:

Retrospective analysis of 254 patients who underwent male-to-female gender reassignment surgery.
Utilized questionnaires to gather data on subjective postoperative satisfaction.

Main Results:

119 (46.9%) patients returned questionnaires at a mean of 5.05 years post-surgery.
90.2% reported fulfilled expectations of life as a woman; 85.4% identified as women.
