Background:

The Generation R Study is a population-based prospective cohort study.
It investigates causes of normal and abnormal growth, development, and health from fetal life to adulthood.

Purpose of the Study:

To update on the collection, processing, and storage of biological samples and available measures.
To highlight the value of these samples and phenotype data for epidemiological research.

Main Methods:

Prospective cohort design enrolling 9,778 mothers.
Data collection includes questionnaires, interviews, physical/ultrasound examinations, behavioral observations, MRI, and biological samples (blood, hair, feces, saliva, urine).
Generation of genomics data (DNA, RNA, microbiome).

Main Results:

Detailed update on biological sample handling and available measures.
Comprehensive phenotype data collected alongside biological samples.

Conclusions:
