A comparative study on morphological versus molecular identification of dermatophyte isolates

Molecular identification of dermatophytes using PCR-RFLP revealed significant discrepancies compared to traditional methods. Many clinical isolates identified as Trichophyton interdigitale were actually Trichophyton rubrum, highlighting the need for accurate molecular techniques in fungal diagnostics.
