  • A novel, minimally invasive device for synchronous partial cardiac support was developed.

Observation:

  • The first clinical implantation of the Symphony device was performed.
  • A 64-year-old male with ischemic cardiomyopathy received the device.

Findings:

  • Cardiac index increased from 1.7 to 2.5 L/min/m².
  • Pulmonary capillary wedge pressure decreased from 26 to 13 mm Hg.
  • NYHA class improved from IIIB to II, with improved renal function.

Implications:

  • The Symphony device shows promise for improving hemodynamics and functional status in advanced heart failure.
  • This less invasive approach offers a new option for patients with limited treatment alternatives.
  • Further clinical data is needed to establish the role of partial synchronous support.
