  • Subset analysis for super obese patients (BMI ≥ 50 kg/m²).

    • 55 patients analyzed; mean %EWL at 5 years was 40%.
    • 5-year co-morbidity resolution: 79% for type 2 diabetes, 61% for hypertension, 73% for obstructive sleep apnea.
    • Significant HbA1c reduction; mean BAROS score 3.13. Less favorable outcomes in super obese patients.

    Conclusions:

    • Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (SG) provides modest weight loss at 5-year follow-up.
    • Co-morbidity improvement is maintained long-term after SG.
    • SG is effective for managing obesity-related co-morbidities.
