Continuous renal replacement therapy in children with multiple organ dysfunction syndrome: a case series

Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) effectively treats critically ill children with multiple organ failure. This study shows CRRT improves organ function and leads to recovery in pediatric patients.

- Five of six patients showed marked improvements, including normalized blood urea nitrogen and creatinine.
- Electrolyte levels stabilized, and other organ function markers improved.
- One patient received CRRT for 241 hours; all five discharged with uneventful recovery.
Implications:
- CRRT demonstrates efficacy in managing critically ill children with multiple organ failure.
- This study supports the use of CRRT as a viable treatment option in pediatric critical care.
- Further research can refine CRRT protocols for improved pediatric patient outcomes.
