Summary

Chitinase 5 (Cht5) gene duplication is reported in locusts, with two genes, LmCht5-1 and LmCht5-2. While both are regulated by molting hormone 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E), only LmCht5-1 is essential for locust development and survival.
