Endocrine response to acute resistance exercise in obese versus lean physically active men

Physically active obese men show similar immediate growth hormone and testosterone responses to resistance exercise compared to lean men. However, integrated hormone concentrations during recovery are lower in obese individuals.

- Obesity may negatively impact IGF-1 responses and overall integrated hormonal concentrations during recovery.
- These findings highlight potential differences in endocrine adaptation to exercise based on body composition in active populations.
