    A child experienced persistent neck pain and a growing lump, initially treated for swollen lymph nodes. Further investigation with imaging was necessary due to the worsening symptoms.

    • Cervical pain and limited range of motion are common pediatric complaints.
    • Posterior neck masses can indicate various underlying pathologies, including infections and neoplasms.

    Observation:

    • A 9-year-old boy presented with a 3-month history of cervical pain and restricted neck movement.
    • A palpable "bump" was noted in the posterior neck, initially presumed to be adenopathy.
    • Symptoms persisted and the palpable finding progressed despite antibiotic treatment.

    Findings:

    • Radiographs were obtained to further evaluate the posterior neck mass.
