Colon cancer with a novel double K-RAS mutation (codons 13 and 19) showed resistance to EGFR inhibitor therapy. This specific mutation pattern was found in mucinous-like tumor cells.
Area of Science:
- Oncology
- Molecular Biology
- Genetics
Background:
- K-RAS mutations in colon cancer often predict resistance to EGFR inhibitor therapies.
- This resistance is linked to the activation of Ras-dependent intracellular signaling pathways.
