In end-stage renal disease (ESRD), elevated nor-epinephrine (NE) is a key predictor of cardiovascular events, largely explaining the risk associated with atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP). This highlights sympathetic over-activity as a mediator of CV risk in ESRD patients.
