Insights
Transcatheter heart valve endocarditis, a rare complication, was successfully treated with a valve-in-valve-in-valve replacement. This approach yielded a favorable one-year outcome despite initial severe complications.
Area of Science:
- Cardiology
- Interventional Cardiology
- Cardiac Surgery
Background:
- Transcatheter heart valve endocarditis is a rare but serious complication following transcatheter aortic valve replacement.
- Early diagnosis and management are crucial for patient outcomes.
Observation:
- A case of a patient with transcatheter heart valve endocarditis is presented.
- The patient experienced severe early complications.
Findings:
- Successful treatment using a transcatheter aortic valve-in-valve-in-valve replacement procedure.
- Favorable one-year clinical outcome achieved post-intervention.
Implications:
- Transcatheter valve-in-valve-in-valve replacement is a viable treatment option for complex endocarditis cases.
- This approach can lead to positive long-term results even after severe early complications.
Abstract:
Transcatheter heart valve endocarditis is a rare, but life threatening complication. We describe the case of a patient who was successfully treated by transcatheter aortic valve-in-valve-in-valve replacement with a favorable 1-year outcome, despite severe early complications.
