Summary

Primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) shows more structural damage than pseudoexfoliative glaucoma (PEXG) at similar functional loss. Heidelberg Retina Tomograph (HRT) parameter correlation with visual fields is stronger in POAG.

  • Distinguishing between primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) and pseudoexfoliative glaucoma (PEXG) is crucial for management.
  • Heidelberg Retina Tomograph (HRT) provides detailed optic disc and retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) imaging.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To compare optic disc parameters measured by HRT between POAG and PEXG.
  • To evaluate the structure-function correlation using HRT and visual field data in POAG versus PEXG.

Main Methods:

  • Prospective observational study of 54 POAG and 33 PEXG patients.
  • Comprehensive ophthalmic examination including HRT imaging.
  • Statistical analysis (t-test, Mann-Whitney U, ANCOVA) to compare groups and assess correlations, adjusting for confounders.
