Genomic analysis of Leishmania parasites from Peruvian patients revealed genetic homogeneity at the beta-tubulin locus but heterogeneity at the gp63 locus. These findings aid in understanding Leishmania diversity in South America.

    • Further research is needed to clarify the taxonomic status of these Peruvian Leishmania isolates within the Leishmania braziliensis complex.
