Main Methods:

  • 120 extracted human teeth were randomly assigned to 8 sterilization groups.
  • Tested agents included formalin, thymol, sodium hypochlorite, glutaraldehyde, hydrogen peroxide, boiling, autoclaving, and saline.
  • Sterilization effectiveness was assessed by culturing samples on agar media.

Main Results:

  • 10% formalin, autoclaving (121°C), and 5.25% sodium hypochlorite demonstrated effective sterilization.
  • These methods significantly reduced microbial contamination on extracted teeth.

Conclusions:

  • Extracted teeth pose infection risks and require careful handling.
  • Formalin, autoclaving, and sodium hypochlorite are recommended for effective disinfection of teeth used in dental laboratories.
