Summary

This case study presents a rare thyroid angiosarcoma in a non-Alpine region. The patient achieved a favorable outcome with surgery and radiotherapy, showing no recurrence.

  • It is characterized by local invasiveness and a high recurrence rate.

Observation:

  • A 61-year-old woman presented with a suspicious thyroid nodule.
  • Histopathology and immunohistochemistry confirmed angiosarcoma, with a coexisting papillary microcarcinoma.
  • Post-operative imaging revealed local recurrence with invasion of adjacent structures.

Findings:

  • The patient underwent surgical excision followed by radiotherapy (60 Gy).
  • Despite aggressive features and recurrence, the patient has shown no evidence of disease for four years post-treatment.
