    • Individual interviews were audiorecorded, transcribed, and analyzed using an inductive interpretive description approach.

    • Physicians prioritized medical needs, rarely initiating discussions on WI issues.
    • Patients primarily raised WI concerns due to insurance requirements.
    • Physicians felt inadequately trained and believed other professionals (e.g., occupational therapists) were better suited for WI support.
    • Referrals for WI support were infrequent due to resource and knowledge gaps.

    Conclusions:

    • Physicians perceive themselves as ill-equipped to address cancer survivors’ WI issues due to lack of training, time, and perceived mandate.
    • There is a need for increased awareness and accessible support services for cancer survivors’ WI issues.
    • Multidisciplinary teams, including occupational therapists, are crucial for holistically addressing survivors' needs.
