  • Sweet's syndrome, an acute febrile neutrophilic dermatosis, can be associated with medications.
  • Commonly implicated drugs include antibiotics, chemotherapy agents, and diuretics.

Observation:

  • A rare case of Sweet's syndrome was observed in a patient undergoing therapy with interferon beta 1-b.
  • The patient presented with atypical, unilaterally predominant lesions on the lower extremity and severe pain.

Findings:

  • This is the first reported instance of Sweet's syndrome associated with interferon beta 1-b therapy.
  • Previous literature documented only one case linked to pegylated interferon-alpha and ribavirin.

Implications:

  • The findings expand the spectrum of drugs known to induce Sweet's syndrome.
  • Clinicians should consider interferon beta 1-b as a potential trigger for Sweet's syndrome, especially with atypical presentations.
