Background:

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common condition affecting many men.
Previous systematic reviews on acupuncture for ED lacked conclusive evidence due to high heterogeneity and limited randomized controlled trials (RCTs).
A reassessment of acupuncture's efficacy and safety for ED is warranted.

Purpose of the Study:

To systematically review and assess the safety and effectiveness of acupuncture as a treatment for erectile dysfunction (ED).
To provide a comprehensive analysis of existing evidence, addressing limitations of prior reviews.

Main Methods:

A systematic search of eight electronic databases (CENTRAL, MEDLINE, PubMed, EMBASE, PsycInfo, CBM, CMCC, CNKI) will be conducted.
Inclusion of all relevant English and Chinese randomized controlled trials (RCTs) regardless of publication type.
Improvements in sexual activity, assessed by validated questionnaires, will be the primary outcome measure. Risk of bias, data synthesis, and subgroup analysis will be performed using Review Manager 5.3.
