Area of Science:

  • Periodontal plastic surgery
  • Oral esthetics

Background:

  • Gingival hyperpigmentation is a common esthetic concern, impacting patient satisfaction.
  • Gingival depigmentation aims to reduce dark gum coloration through surgical intervention.

Observation:

  • This study evaluates three cases of gingival hyperpigmentation management.
  • Comparison between scalpel and cryosurgery techniques was performed.

Findings:

  • Cryosurgery demonstrated relevance in managing gingival hyperpigmentation.
  • Both scalpel and cryosurgery were employed, with a focus on cryosurgery's efficacy.

Implications:

  • Cryosurgery offers a viable option for improving the esthetics of dark gums.
  • Understanding different depigmentation techniques can guide clinical decisions for better patient outcomes.
