    • To describe progress and challenges in measles elimination in the Philippines from 1998 to 2014.
    • To evaluate the effectiveness of implemented measles elimination strategies.

    Main Methods:

    • Analysis of WHO-United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF)-estimated measles-containing vaccine (MCV) coverage (MCV1 and MCV2).
    • Review of reported measles cases and incidence rates.
    • Assessment of supplementary immunization activities (SIAs) and outbreak response efforts.

    Main Results:

    • MCV1 coverage increased from 80% to 90%, and MCV2 coverage rose from 10% to 53% between 1998 and 2013.

    • Targeted strategies are needed to address measles susceptibility in specific populations and areas.
