Smoking worsens multiple sclerosis prognosis: two different pathways are involved

Smoking impairs multiple sclerosis (MS) prognosis by reducing indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase activity and increasing renin-angiotensin system activity. These changes decrease regulatory T cells, potentially explaining the link between smoking and MS risk.
