Abstract:
There are more than 3000 categories of 20th century collectibles being bought and sold on a daily basis the world over. Among them is art used in the making of animated films, cartoons, commercials, and educational media. With its recent rise in value, beginning in 1984, animation art has become one of the most sought-after and valued collectibles and, at the same time, one of the most frequently forged. This article concentrates on the images themselves and considers, the processes of animation art production and restoration, and how these techniques are used in the forensic investigation of the art's authenticity.
