Recapping is the most common cause of preventable needlestick injury. Needlestick injury can be prevented by proper handling techniques. Needlestick injury can transmit the hepatitis virus to the victim. Double-gloving protects against fluid contamination but does not add any more protection against needlesticks than does a single glove.
