To establish a health and wellness coaching role and certification program specifically for holistic nurses.
To ensure holistic nurses could practice to their full potential within the transforming healthcare system.
To promote the recognition and adoption of holistic nursing practices through nurse coaching.

A cohort of holistic nurses collaborated between 2009 and 2012.
Development of a specialized role and certification program for holistic nurse coaching.
Strategic planning to address challenges and sustain holistic nursing within the evolving system.

A framework for a holistic nursing coaching role and certification was developed.
