Novel low-cost endoscopic cap for esophageal foreign objects: a case report.

• An 8-mm green marble was impacted 32 cm from the incisors in the esophagus.
• A novel low-cost endoscopic cap (NLCEC), adapted from common tubing, was applied to the endoscope.

Findings:

• The NLCEC was adapted with a 25 mm cap and a 5 mm soft portion to prevent mucosal injury.
• Forced suction through the NLCEC enabled rapid retrieval of the esophageal foreign body.
• The procedure was completed within minutes, with the patient experiencing an uneventful recovery.

Implications:

• The NLCEC presents a viable, safe, and low-cost alternative for endoscopic retrieval of esophageal foreign bodies.
• This innovative endoscopic intervention avoids the need for general anesthesia, enhancing patient safety.
