  • Twenty patients with typical melasma presentations were enrolled.
  • Dermoscopic evaluation of melasma lesions and surrounding normal skin was performed.

Main Results:

  • Light yellow-brown uniform patches were present in all melasma lesions.
  • Dark brown patches were observed in 95% of melasma lesions.
  • Capillary networks and coarse hair were also noted with varying frequencies.

Conclusions:

  • Light yellow-brown uniform patches and dark brown patches are significant dermoscopic indicators of melasma.
  • Dermoscopy aids in characterizing melasma features.
