Associations between CD24 gene polymorphisms and inflammatory bowel disease: A meta-analysis

This meta-analysis found no overall link between CD24 gene variants and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). However, specific CD24 polymorphisms were associated with increased risk for ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD).

Conclusions:
- The CD24 C170T polymorphism may play a role in the susceptibility to ulcerative colitis.
- The CD24 TG1527del polymorphism appears to be associated with an increased risk of Crohn's disease.
