Abstract:
Fertility returns quickly after kidney or liver transplantation in women of reproductive age, and most pregnancies are associated with good fetal and maternal outcomes. These pregnancies are nonetheless at a high risk of preterm delivery, preeclampsia, and low birthweight. Pregnancy has no specific impact on the graft if its function is stable prior to conception. Transplanted patients are at higher risk of death than the general population, and morbidity associated with the graft and related treatments may prevent transplanted women from caring normally for their children. Pregnancies in transplanted women must be managed by multidisciplinary teams.
