Summary

Combining exercise with low-level laser therapy (LLLT) significantly reduces white adipocyte size and boosts citrate synthase activity in obese rats. This combined approach enhances the metabolic benefits of exercise for obesity management.

Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the synergistic effects of exercise and LLLT on adipocyte size, citrate synthase activity, and muscle morphology in obese rats.
  • To determine if combined therapy enhances exercise benefits for obesity.

  • Sixty-four Wistar rats were divided into eight groups (sedentary/exercised, chow/high-fat diet, with/without LLLT).
  • An 8-week swimming exercise program (90 min/session, 5 times/week) was implemented.

  • This therapeutic strategy offers a promising approach to enhance obesity treatment by improving adipocyte function and energy metabolism.
