Summary
The P-CAPT filter, designed to remove prion disease infectivity from blood, did not fully eliminate Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) agent from sheep red blood cells. Transfused red blood cells, even after filtration, transmitted BSE to recipients.
