Insights
This study introduces novel integral parameters for hemostasis assessment in children, aiding in the diagnosis and treatment of surgical conditions and disseminated intravascular coagulation.
Area of Science:
- Pediatric Surgery
- Hematology
- Medical Diagnostics
Context:
- Assessing hemostasis in pediatric surgical patients is crucial for managing surgical diseases.
- Existing diagnostic methods for hemostasis may lack comprehensive parameters for pediatric populations.
- Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) requires accurate classification and timely treatment strategies.
Purpose:
- To develop and validate new integral parameters for evaluating the hemostasis system in children.
- To establish quantitative hemostasis data for both healthy children and those with surgical diseases.
- To propose an updated classification and treatment protocols for disseminated intravascular coagulation syndrome.
Summary:
- Analyzed 1585 electrocoagulograms from 100 healthy children and 407 pediatric surgical patients.
- Developed novel integral parameters for hemostasis, quantifying them in normal and pathological states.
- Introduced a new classification for disseminated intravascular coagulation syndrome with corresponding treatment schemes.
Impact:
- Provides advanced diagnostic tools for pediatric hemostasis disorders.
- Offers improved classification and management strategies for disseminated intravascular coagulation in children.
- Contributes to better patient outcomes in pediatric surgery through enhanced hemostasis monitoring.
Abstract:
Under examination there were 100 healthy children and 407 children operated upon for different surgical diseases. An analysis of 1585 electrocoagulograms was performed with a computer. New integral parameters of hemostasis were developed. Their quantitation is given in norm and pathology. A new classification of the disseminated intravascular coagulation syndrome and corresponding schemes of treatment of alterations in the hemostasis system are proposed.
