[Volvulus of the cecum. A case report]

Background:

Observation:

• A patient presented with a 4-day history of severe, colicky abdominal pain, nausea, anorexia, vomiting, and abdominal distension.
• Radiography revealed a distended, gas-filled intestinal loop in the upper abdomen.

Findings:

• Surgical exploration confirmed volvulus of the cecum in the upper abdomen.
• The cecum was viable and underwent repositioning and fixation to the abdominal wall (cecopexy).

Implications:

• This case highlights cecal volvulus as a cause of intestinal obstruction.
• Cecopexy is a viable surgical option for treating cecal volvulus, ensuring good postoperative outcomes.
