Late-onset disease (LOD) now accounts for most invasive group B Streptococcus (GBS) infections in newborns, despite intrapartum antibioprophylaxis. New prevention strategies are needed, particularly targeting the hypervirulent CC17 strain responsible for GBS meningitis.
