    Summary

Echocardiography rapidly and accurately diagnosed four cases of pericardial effusion. This imaging technique proved superior for detecting fluid around the heart, even when initial chest X-rays suggested cardiomegaly.

    Area of Science:

    • Cardiology
    • Medical Imaging

    Background:

    • Pericardial effusion diagnosis can be challenging.
    • Echocardiography is a key diagnostic tool in cardiology.

    Observation:

    • Four cases of pericardial effusion were analyzed.
    • Patients presented with varying initial diagnostic pathways.
    • Cardiomegaly on chest X-ray prompted echocardiography in three cases.

    Findings:

    • Echocardiography provided a rapid and accurate diagnosis of pericardial effusion in all four cases.
    • Real-time echocardiography demonstrated its effectiveness in identifying pericardial effusion.

    Implications:

    • Echocardiography is a highly effective, safe, and minimally invasive method for diagnosing pericardial effusion.
    • This technique aids in timely clinical decision-making for cardiac conditions.
