Background:

Effective organ transplantation coordination requires specialized training.
Communication and empathy are critical during donor family interactions.
Existing training may not adequately prepare coordinators for sensitive encounters.

Purpose of the Study:

To introduce a modified Organ Transplantation Coordinator course incorporating simulated donor family encounters (SDFEs) and communication skills training.
To evaluate participant satisfaction, knowledge acquisition, and skill implementation in their professional settings.
To assess the impact of enhanced training on organ donation coordination practices.

Main Methods:

A modified Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE) model was employed for course development.
Participant feedback was gathered via evaluation forms, post-tests, and simulated encounters.
Long-term impact was assessed through content analysis of self-reported work targets and follow-up telephone interviews.

Main Results:

High participant satisfaction (mean score: 8.65 ± 1.06) was reported for the overall course.
Participants indicated a strong intention to use enhanced communication and empathy skills during donor family encounters.
High post-test scores (mean: 96.0 ± 3.8) and sufficient performance (70%) in SDFEs demonstrated knowledge and skill acquisition.
A significant 77.6% of self-identified work targets were successfully fulfilled post-training.

Conclusions:

The modified Organ Transplantation Coordinator course effectively improved participants' knowledge and communication skills.
The integration of SDFEs and communication training positively impacted participants' ability to implement learned skills in practice.
The enhanced training program shows promise for improving the quality of organ donation coordination and family support.
