Summary

Endoscopic thyroidectomy using E·Z-access using video-assisted neck surgery (EZ-VANS) is a safe and effective approach for benign and early malignant thyroid tumors. This minimally invasive technique offers comparable outcomes to open surgery with a potentially shorter learning curve.

Background:

  • Video-assisted and robotic surgery are emerging techniques for thyroid and parathyroid gland resection.
  • The E·Z-access using video-assisted neck surgery (EZ-VANS) system offers a novel endoscopic approach.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the safety and efficacy of the EZ-VANS technique for thyroid tumor resection.
  • To compare EZ-VANS with traditional open cervical collar incision surgery.

Main Methods:

  • A retrospective study comparing 110 patients undergoing thyroid tumor resection.
  • 37 patients underwent EZ-VANS, and 73 patients underwent open surgery (cervical collar incision).
  • Data collected included operating time, blood loss, and length of hospital stay.
