Adherens junctions are abundant in tissues such as  epithelium and endothelium, forming a continuous zone of adhesion called the adhesion belt. Purpose of the Study:

  • To analyze the clinical presentation, laboratory findings, and treatment outcomes for labial adhesion in girls under 23 months.
  • To highlight the importance of recognizing labial adhesion in pediatric patients.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective chart review of girls under 23 months diagnosed with labial adhesion.
  • Data collected from 1998 to 2013 at Dr Sheikh Children's Clinic in Mashhad, Iran.

  • Sixty-three patients were diagnosed with labial adhesion.
  • Dysuria and voiding restlessness were the most common symptoms.
