Abstract:
Pulmonary hypertension is associated with adverse cardiac outcomes and death in the general population. Bolignano and colleagues studied the prevalence of higher estimated pulmonary artery systolic pressure (⩾35 mm Hg) assessed using echocardiogram among patients with stage 1-4 chronic kidney disease. They further examined the associations of higher pulmonary pressures with a composite cardiovascular outcome. These findings suggest the potential role of pulmonary arterial systolic pressure as a risk marker in those with chronic kidney disease.
