A novel nonexposure endoscopic full-thickness resection (EFTR) technique was feasible in pigs. This method avoids peritoneal exposure during tumor resection, offering a potentially safer approach for clinical application.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the feasibility of a novel EFTR technique.
  • To assess a method that prevents mucosal exposure to the peritoneum.
  • To test an easy and secure suturing method for clinical application.

Main Methods:

  • A nonexposure endolaparoscopic full-thickness resection (EFTR) technique was performed in four pigs.
  • The technique involved laparoscopic seromuscular suturing, internal EFTR, and endoscopic mucosal suturing.
  • Endo-loops and clips were used for final mucosal closure.

  • En bloc and complete resections were achieved in all subjects without adverse events.
  • The mean operation time was 137.0 ± 28.2 minutes.
  • Histological examination confirmed successful healing without leakage or infection.

Conclusions:

  • The nonexposure endolaparoscopic full-thickness resection with simple suturing is feasible in an animal model.
  • This technique offers a potentially safer alternative for endoscopic tumor resection.
