Summary

Primary pulmonary artery sarcoma is rare and often misdiagnosed. This case report shows a patient with no complications 1.5 years after pneumonectomy for this condition.

Background:

Primary pulmonary artery sarcoma is a rare malignancy with a poor prognosis.
Misdiagnosis as pulmonary thromboembolism or metastatic disease complicates treatment.
Current surgical options include pneumonectomy and pulmonary endarterectomy, with 1-year survival around 50%.

Observation:

This case report details a patient who underwent pneumonectomy for pulmonary artery sarcoma.
The patient experienced no complications during the 1.5-year follow-up period post-surgery.

Findings:

Successful surgical management via pneumonectomy is feasible for primary pulmonary artery sarcoma.
Long-term survival without complications is achievable following aggressive surgical intervention.
