Summary
The Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) Asp299Gly single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) may decrease periodontitis risk when interacting with Porphyromonas gingivalis. This TLR4 SNP also appears protective against alveolar bone height loss (ABHL).
