Summary

Tissue factor gene expression was detected in leukocytes of acute myeloblastic leukemia (AML) patients, but not in normal bone marrow cells. This finding suggests a role for tissue factor in the excessive thrombin generation seen in some AML cases.

Background:

  • Acute myeloblastic leukemia (AML) is a heterogeneous hematologic malignancy.
  • The role of tissue factor (TF) in the pathogenesis of AML, particularly regarding coagulation abnormalities, requires further elucidation.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the expression of tissue factor gene in leukocytes of patients diagnosed with acute myeloblastic leukemia (AML).
  • To determine if tissue factor expression in AML cells correlates with specific subtypes or contributes to hypercoagulable states.
