    Area of Science:

    • Orthopedics
    • Pediatric Orthopedics
    • Developmental Biology

    Background:

    • Congenital primitive metatarsus varus is a foot deformity present at birth.
    • Understanding its incidence, etiology, pathogenesis, and classification is crucial for effective management.
    • Associated malformations can impact diagnosis and treatment strategies.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To provide a comprehensive overview of congenital primitive metatarsus varus.
    • To detail the clinical features and associated conditions.
    • To evaluate treatment options and their outcomes.

    Main Methods:

    • Literature review on congenital primitive metatarsus varus.
    • Analysis of clinical features and associated malformations.
    • Evaluation of conservative and surgical treatment modalities.

    Main Results:

    • Congenital primitive metatarsus varus is treatable with non-surgical methods if initiated early.
    • Conservative treatment involves manipulation, serial casting, and corrective footwear.
    • Surgical interventions on tendons or joint capsules can yield satisfying results for severe or late-diagnosed cases.

    Conclusions:

    • Early, non-surgical treatment of congenital primitive metatarsus varus before ambulation is highly effective.
    • Surgical options are available for cases unresponsive to conservative management or diagnosed at advanced stages.
    • Prompt diagnosis and intervention are key to successful outcomes in pediatric foot deformities.
