Summary

Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) agonists and dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors like exenatide and sitagliptin did not prevent bone loss in a rat periodontitis model. Despite reducing inflammatory gene expression, these diabetes drugs were ineffective against periodontal tissue damage.
